Brown is the earth.
Gray is the sky.
Cold is the hearth,
Barren to the eye.
An empty landscape one can’t escape.
Such sweet sadness,

An empty house on a Darkening Day.

Strong is the smell
Rising from the crop.
A wind tolling bell
Comes to a stop.
The heart’s the starkest
Awaiting the harvest.
